COMPOSITION

Each ml of Drutivin® Paediatric Nasal Drops contains 0.5mg Xylometazoline Hydrochloride.

Each ml of Drutivin® Adult Nasal Drops contains 1mg Xylometazoline Hydrochloride.

ACTION

Drutivinâ acts by stimulating the alpha – adrenergic receptors in the arterioles of the nasal mucosa causing vasoconstriction. The onset of action is about 5 – 10 minutes and lasts for about 5 – 6 hours.

INDICATIONS

Acute colds, vasomotor rhinitis, hay fever, to aid drainage of secretions in infections of the paranasal sinuses, to facilitate rhinoscopy.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Infants up to 2 years: 1 drop of 0.05% solution into each nostril 3 times daily.

Children 2 to 6 years: 1 – 2 drops of 0.05% solution  into each nostril 3 times daily.

Adults and Children over 7 years of age: 2 – 3 drops of 0.1% solution into each nostril 4 times daily.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

Drutivinâ is contra-indicated in glaucoma.

PRECAUTIONS

Hypersensitivity to sympathomimetics, prolonged use e.g in chronic colds.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Occassional burning sensation in the nose and throat, local irritation, nausea, headache, dryness of the nasal mucosa.

Drutivinâ Nasal Drops are available in lupolen bottles containing 10ml of the 0.1% adult Nasal Drops and 5ml of 0.05% paediatric Nasal Drops.
