Each ml of Drugent® solution contains 3mg Gentamicin in the form of Gentamicin Sulphate.
Gentamicin is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group with a broad spectrum of action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Microorganisms susceptible to Gentamicin include P.aeuruginosa, the group klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia, E. Coli and Strains of Proteus. It is also active against penicillin – resistant staphylococci.
Indications include infections of the conjunctiva, corneal ulcers and also in prophylaxis of infections of the eye in injuries and surgical process such as in burns, chemical injuries, lacerations and foreign body removal.
Also in bacterial infections of the external ear.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Instill 1 to 3 drops into the affected eye/ear 3 to 4 times daily.
Hypersensitivity to Gentamicin.
Safety for use in pregnancy and lactation has not been established except only in life – threatening conditions.
Drugentâ eye/ear drops is available in plastic bottle containing 10ml of the drops.
